I'm curious about that too. I think the popular perception was always that she was a shallow Hollywood model-actress who didn't want kids (you know, "that type") and who didn't have anything in common with a down-to-earth guy like Bruce. And Bruce was totally forgiven for his affair with Patti because the perception was that he'd found an earthy gal to have his kids, etc.

I saw the Bruce Springsteen thread and had to come in to add to the "Im from Jersey" posts I knew would be in here. I have also known people that have known him - I think everyone in Jersey is a maximum of two degrees from him - and have heard only good things. Now I have Born to Run in my head.

This happened a while ago and I totally forgot to post it. My friend is a massage therapist. About a year ago she received a call from Bruce's people. Somehow somebody she knew recommended her. Bruce needed a preshow massage before his solo acoustic performance that evening, and was she available? Hell yes, she was.
She said he was incredibly nice and professional. Of course, he was nekkid except for a towel and at one point had to get up to use the restroom. He walked away without the towel and she got a nice view of his tush. She said it was lovely.

I just can't believe Bruce and Patti have been married for 20 years. I vividly remember this marriage to Julianne Phillips and the affair with Patti and it's making me feel incredibly old that 20 years have gone by since then.

(Whooops, and a big fat hee.) He dumped JP to marry Patti & spawn. ETA: Thunder Road is my favorite song of all time.

I will say that man has an ass extraordinaire. Your friend is indeed one lucky, lucky woman.
I still don't know what to think of the Bruce and the 9/11 widow story. I saw him on tour about six times from '02-'05 and he and Patti seemed very much a couple—at least on stage. (He even gave Patti an opening act slot on the last Vote for Change concert in New Jersey—which was horrible because the woman is not a good solo artist.) Then again, maybe she did run off with the pool boy and he with another red-headed woman and they both made an arrangement to keep their marriage a business arrangement.

I heard his first marriage broke up because of the reason's someone stated above, he wanted a family and she wanted to launch her career from modeling to acting. Man, did she ever chose wrong.
I have a massage license, I'll massage his ass. er..I mean gluts.

Just adding that he's a member of my mom's gym club and everyone loves him. One of the members who used to work out regularly at the same time as Bruce had treatment for cancer and when she came back Bruce went over and asked where she'd been, and now that he knows about the cancer scare he always asks how she's doing.
This makes me happy because I think he is an incredible poet and writer. I know that nice guy + talent does not necessarily = good husband, but I irrationally hope if the breakup is true, at least it was sort of a mutual thing.

He was just at a local event in New Jersey that my husband was at and they actually spoke and my husband said he was nice and regular and not once did it phase him that it was "The Boss". He was just a regular guy and talked regular guy talk and was really nice to the people that couldn't get over the fact they were near "The Boss". He said he's the type of guy you'd talk to at your kids game and stuff- laid back, aware of the community, etc.
