love love love him. that's all. (have a long story about the lead off band to some boring group all the way back in 1972 - nobody I was sitting near knew who that was. eventually, I found out. guess who?)

I remember that story, too, Wol and remember distinctly his distancing his music from being included in the film. (and also thinking that was pretty shitty of him). What's weird is that imdb shows that several songs of his were on the soundtrack—though I've no memory of any of them being in the film.
Table for Jealous, party of one over here!

I had never heard about the Mask soundtrack issue, so looked to see what the story was. imdb says Amazon says the 2004 director's cut DVD features the original, never-released soundtrack by Bruce Springsteen that was created for the film but not included in the theatrical release. I may have to rent that cut to see how it works with Bruce's soundtrack.

Thank you for correcting my 22 years of thinking it was Bruce who wanted nothing to do with it! Now I have to go rent that edition, too.

BS was a friend of Peter Bogdanovich who directed Mask. BS is a fan of John Ford who was a friend of PB.

No offense, but there's good reasons it's called the Incorrect Movie Database. I ain't buying it. I remember reading the press materials and both Rusty Dennis and Bogdanovich called out Springsteen himself for not letting them use the tracks. He probably had a change of heart and let them add his material after the fact. Too little, too late, Boss.
Whatever. He still rocks, and has done plenty of good things with his fame/talent.

An original member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band has melanoma and is taking a leave from the singer's "Magic" tour to undergo treatment. Danny Federici is "one of the pillars of our sound," Springsteen said in a statement Wednesday. Charles Giordano, who played with Springsteen last year on the "Seeger Sessions Tour," will fill in for Federici. Fans at Monday's show in Boston had already heard rumors of Federici's illness and chanted his name as he and other band members took their bows, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported. Hope all is well.

My hairdresser in NJ told me the greatest story. He was shopping for antiques is Red Bank, NJ and took a seat at the front of the store. He was reading the newspaper. Someone comes and sits next to him and starts saying "I'm going to be here forever. I live in CA half the year and the prices are much better here. There's going to be no stoppin my wife. So buddy, how did you get suckered into this?" at which point my hair dresser looks up and realizes he is sitting next to Bruce Springsteen.

I was at the Boston shows and Danny was given a huge spotlight at Monday's show... 10th Avenue, Kitty's Back, Sandy all got played because they gave him a chance to shine and celebrated the brotherhood of that band. It was really emotional, there were lots of tears on and off the stage. I wish him well and hope he rejoins the band soon. My husband's birthday present to me is a trip to Spain to see the shows this weekend so we're off to the airport in a few hours. He doesn't do things like that as a rule 'cos we ain't rich but this year was special and I'm so happy. It'll be weird to not see Danny onstage but Charlie is pretty damn impressive himself so I suspect the shows will be brilliant as always. I feel a bit like Dwan stalking her Durannies across the globe but what can I say...it's The Boss + E Street, live! It's baptism by rock and roll, nobody does it like they do. ETA: topwesselton, that is hilarious. I'll bet the antiques store was this one...they shop there a lot and it really is a great place if you're ever in the area.

A friend of mine is a massage therapist. Somehow someone from Bruce's camp got her number and she was asked to come to the local arena. She gave Bruce a massage before his solo show that night. She said he was very nice and they made small talk about the area. At one point he got up to use the restroom and she got a very good look at his tight butt as he walked away.
She was invited to stay for the show and watched from the side of the stage.
