I thought he wasn't involved with the project anymore. He isn't which is a shame, but blame TPTB.

I can't stand the guy. He seems like a raging egomaniac to me. I realize this might invite replies of, "Well, at least he has the talent to back it up!" Oh well. Egomaniacs are never pleasant, talented or not. Just in interviews and commentaries he's rubbed me the wrong way.

I love him and I'm hoping the rumors about Katie Holmes being up for Wonder Woman are completely false! Anywhere we can petition Joss to not let the crazy into his movie? I thought he wasn't working on the movie anymore?? But regardless: Katie Holmes?? My two cents: No matter who worked on it, I still think it has a 99.9% chance of suckitude. (Hey, if it was 15 years ago and they decided to do it with Cynthia Rothrock, I would have respected them for making it as campy as it could be...nowadays, I would just want Michelle Yeoh as Wonder Woman. Greek she is not, but damn is she hot. Yes, yes, rambling...)

I saw JW yesterday walking the picket line at Fox Studios. Good for him! I'm glad to see the higher-paid talent support the rights of the members of the WGA who rarely make more than $40,000 a year

So Whedon is now at the helm of the Avengers franchise. How long before he tries to use his clout to bring Firefly back?

He's actually through with Avengers. He won't be directing anymore.

I'm thinking he's burnt out a little. I would not be surprised if he handed this effort off to one of his industry buddies and took a long vacation.

The Russo brothers are directing both parts of the next film. They directed the second Cap film, which is considered to be the best or one of the best Marvel films (after the first Iron Man). Age of Ultron's critical and audience reviews were lackluster so I think him stepping aside is a good thing. This last film had too many of his Whedon-isms in it.
