NBC's going to be a big winner with Meredith, I think. Those eyes who watch "The View" are most likely up in the morning...so that audience will bleed over.
I doubt folks that are up with "Today" or any other morning show are around when it's time for the evening news.
Meredith just changed neighborhoods, Katie moved to another country.

Well, I've begun watching the Today show for the first time in forever thanks to Meredith! I can't compare her to the Katie days, but she seems to have fantastic chemistry with Matt Lauer (who I am also loving these days).
But is it just me or do things seem a little weird between Meredith and Al Roker? Their banter strikes me as having a vaguely hostile undercurrent.

I seem to recall a BI not long ago about a weather guy who was on his way out, and speculation was that it was Al. Maybe he and Meredith don't click and she's on the "get him outta here" side.

Maybe it's shellshock, or she's having flashbacks to working with Star (who probably really resembles Al Roker without her makeup on), or could be she's sick of hearing the name AL?

Right after I posted that, I thought of Paul Mooney's joke about how Star Jones would take off her wig and do the weather. Maybe Meredith has a little PTSD. I know it sounds really weird that they might be hostile to each other, because Vieira and Roker are two of the last celebrities I'd imagine in a catfight with ANYONE, but some of their exchanges have made me raise my eyebrows. Dunno, it's probably just the nature of settling in.

I pick up more hostility from Ann Curry. Something seems off - like she's bitter. On Meredith's first day Ann seemed to be full of insinuations about how Meredith didn't KNOW anyone, or how they do things there.

I appreciated that she seemed in control of herself when she interview Ben Affleck (though the line about him really being superman was all kinds of cringe-worthy). I couldn't watch Katie interview male celebs. She'd flirt and giggle and I never knew who was more uncomfortable, the guest or me having to watch a grown woman embarrass herself on international TV.

Ann Curry is about as smart as a box of hair and may be somewhat intimidated by Meredith.

Awww, shoot. Ann is dumb? For some reason I really love her. PTSD - Al = wigged Starzilla is about the funniest thing I've heard all week. That's gotta be it!

NBC did overdo on Viera's first day on the job. It was Viera-centric, the bio, the airplane with the trailer, the small private school she went to, the gushing over by Lauer. And that insidious music "It's a new day" relentlessly playing in the background. But thank gawd I don't have to watch Katie Couric and the fake giggle. I did not catch the Ann Curry insinuations, but both she and Viera have the similar styles: the ability to be low key and low-voice when required.
Perhaps Curry considers herself the more serious journalist since she has been featured in a number of international reporting stories on some new magazine shows. She seems like a lightweight.
