Rumor has it he will be announcing his retirement tonight on TDS. My stomach hurts a little.

Hmmm, would his last day be before or after the election? I'm sure he feels like me where he can't stomach one more campaign season.

It's no hoax. He's leaving at the end of 2015.... well before the f*ckery of the 2016 elections. I have no words.... I'm seriously v. sad.

Comedy Central said his last show will be later this year. They also said it's not the end of The Daily Show, but frankly I can't imagine anyone taking his place. John Oliver would be the obvious candidate if he didn't already have his own show.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I guess it's not entirely shocking. It's becoming more and more obvious he's over out current political system. I suspect John Oliver's temporary tenure was meant to be a long audition to take over the show one day. And then HBO noticed his brilliance and snatched him.
It does kinda feel like an end of an era. A bit melodramatic I know.

I was driving and heard it on public radio. I was almost home and peeled into my neighborhood to go home and look it up on the computer. I am distraught. I am politically liberal and I live in Alabama. All of my family is republican or Tea Party. Most places you go in public that have tv news on are tuned to Fox News. John Stewart and Stephen Colbert helped me cling to my sanity and in one year they're both gone. I don't know how I'll survive the next presidential election.

A bit melodramatic I know. Yeah, I am completely bummed out. But I'm not entirely surprised. He's been making noises about retiring for a while. The question seemed to be if he was going to stick it out through 2016, and now we have the answer. I don't know how they can replacement him, but man, they HAVE TO. John Oliver and Larry Wilmore have excellent shows, but they are a different format. They generally run with one topic and dig in. We need someone to actually cover daily events, and more importantly, to criticize the media. That's the biggest thing Stewart has done. And with the shit-tastic state of news media in this country, we can't lose that voice.

Especially Bill Oreilly since Jon constantly served his ass on a platter when they were on each other's shows. I will miss him shutting his pompous, ignorant ass down.

I bet Fox News is celebrating tonight. Dammit. I was just about to post that. My facebook page is comprised of a bunch of seriously distraught people who are wondering how they'll survive the next election. I'm one of them.
