Didn’t Jeopardy do something similar after Alex Trebek passed? In terms of having a rotation of celebrity guest hosts, some of which were serious contenders for the permanent job and some who weren't, yes. Jeopardy didn't have an existing bench of talent to draw from for hosting duties, while The Daily Show already had the correspondents to draw from. |
