What rumors that he's a bit of an asshat? And Lana, could you please go into more detail about your encounters with him, as well as your friend's stint as an intern on TDS? How could someone not love that? I am sadly pathetic when it comes to Jon...I've loved him since "The Jon Stewart Show," and I really don't want to believe that the success of TDS has gone to his head. He's always seemed so willing to admit to his failures, and I love it when he's not afraid to say something negative about a celebrity (even when he's interviewing them). Plus, TDS played a large part in getting me through the aftermath of 9/11 and the aftermath of the last election...I so don't want him to be just another asshole.

Even if he is an asshole in real life, I love him as a commentator. I want to bear his children.

I don't think Jon is "just another asshole." But he has faults like everybody else. He's usually great with fans. My friend just didn't enjoy the "boy's club" mentality at TDS. If you know anything about the history of SNL it should raise warning flags that she finds the atmosphere there much more female friendly then it was at TDS. She always says how shocked she is that Sam Bee has lasted as long as she has. Most of the female correspondents haven't stayed around long. I don't think there were any female writers when she worked at TDS, and she was the only female intern.

I caught the Oprah after the show thing on Oxygen. Unfortunately Jon had to share the show with Cameron Diaz, who admitted that she was very intimidated by Jon's quick wit. It seemed like he was enjoying himself a few times, but mostly it looked like he wanted to be anywhere else.

He also mentioned it on his show last night. He opened by saying he called Oprah a dick and blasted her for ruining the country. I laughed out loud, which is something I hardly ever do at television.

They talked about how Jon is going to be in the June issue of Oprah's magazine. Apparently Oprah and Gayle spent the day with Jon and his family. They mostly just talked about current news events, and Jon did a spoof on "Oprah's Wildest Dreams" with Amy Sedaris. I didn't get the sense than he felt uncomfortable with Oprah, but her audience seemed to freak him out a little. Maybe it was all the screaming and clapping.
