I remember WFIL! It was THE top 40 station in the area at that time. John must've visited Philly while living in NY.

Bumping for this, x-posted to the amusing websites thread but I thought I'd post it here as as well: This is a hilarious time capsule, John Lennon and Paul Simon presenting the Grammy for Record of the Year in 1975. Olivia Netwon-John wins for "I Honestly Love You," and has her award accepted by... Art Garfunkel! Paul Simon: "I thought I told you to wait in the car." Lennon: "Are you ever getting back together again?!" Simon: "Are YOU guys ever getting back together again?" Art: "Still writing, Paul?" Simon: "I'm trying my hand at a little acting, Art." Many jokes about Andy Williams' ex-wife Claudine Longet shooting that guy.

It's nice to know that unfunny scripted banter was a joke even back then.
John's quip, "So this is what Dawn does, is it?" I didn't get that.

I think he meant Dawn, as in Tony Orlando and the Dawn. "Dawn" were Orlando's back up singers, which consisted usually of two dark-skinned women in long dresses who kind of swayed behind him.

Precisely. But I like to think he was sending me secret, personal love messages. He and Paulie. *sigh*

I thought that might be it....but I didn't get it...oh wait, it's because he and Simon were like Dawn to Andy Williams' Orlando? Okay, cool! (Also maybe Orlando and Dawn were on the show earlier?)
There are a couple of cute other clips on Youtube, such as John reading his story "The Wrestling Dog" on Not Only...But Also, Dudley Moore and Peter Cook's show in 1965 and John being interviewed by Howard Cosell. For some reason, my cut and pasting is not working now, though, so I can't post it.

We talked at my seance last night.
"You're the greatest!"
"Shut up, baby. I know it."
"So, you were wrong about that 'no heaven' thing?"
"Yes, yes...and well, frankly, God's being a real tosser about it."

I'm guessing the poster had a seance with John?
