Wandering through Barnes & Noble today I saw they've made a book version of Long Way Round as well. I read it-it was fantastic. I don't blame Charley for being pissed-Ewan probably should have done a separate trip with Eve, perhaps.

Yeah, I think this should have been left as a boy's thing. I agree with Guinastasia, Eve and Ewan could have done something on their own. I felt bad for Charley.

The whole trip had a different vibe this time around. Instead of "Ewan and Charley explore the world!" it was "Ewan and Charley ride through Africa with a bunch of friends, and sometimes they stop to see some stuff." On the first trip, Ewan had more of a sense of wonder, like he couldn't believe it was happening. Long Way Down was so hectic and involved so many people that it never captured my attention the way the first series did. Plus, where was Claudio? I really hope they don't do another one.

Claudio was with them. At least he was in the theatrical version - they showed him several times.

No, I know. I just wish we had seen more of him and less of the support crew/SUV people.
I don't mean to complain so much -- I actually did like this series, just not as much as I liked the first one. If nothing else, I do love watching Ewan on a motorbike. I guess I just miss the Ewan-and-Charley-take-on-the-world vibe.

I totally forgot he was in this. Yum. Forgive me father, for I have sinned. Or at least want to. With you. *already has handbasket picked out*

DAMMIT, he's in the movie? (And looking foine too!) My love for Ewan is possibly only eclipsed by my disdain for Tom Hanks and The DaVinci Code. What to do...

How bad was the original? (And at LEAST it's not a Tom CRUISE movie)
