I remember seeing his stuff years ago on MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour (yes, I'm old) and thinking how sexist it was. I realize he's much older and possibly more mature, but I'll never forget him making jokes about how date rape isn't really rape. He described date rape as a woman having her panties around her ankles and then telling the guy that she just likes him as a friend. And just like that, I hate him.

Are they getting divorced in California? Because they lived in New York primarily (she worked for the UN and then for her own NYC-based charity). It would be odd if they didn't file their divorce there. And we have no idea wy they're divorcing. He and his wife have stayed very much below the gossip page radar. For all we know, it might have been her bad acts that caused the breakdown. I think it's easier to see this being the fault of the potty-mouthed comic but it might not be accurate. I'm sort of amazed how much vitriol posted for this guy. His jokes are jokes. He's never made bones about being shocking. So he never heard a hetero woman rap? How is that different from jokes made about straight men in musical theater? Latifah, Lyte, Missy, and Da Brat are four of the top selling women rappers ever and they're all (reportedly) lesbians. I'd say Rock was making a funny observation, not a slur or criticism of anyone. Vitriol? I didn't see any of that but for each his own. For my own perspective (and you ca refer to the 3 or 4 posts I made on the guy) I believe that whatever he says it's JOKES! It's not like the guy came up to you trying to make you mad. he is trying to make you laugh with what he says and at least in my case I do laugh a nd I laugh hard. There is a tiny essence of truth in it...as in some guys think those things...but most of those guys can't say it and make you laugh and forget about it. Most guys would make you want to slap them in face and leave...because they are not comedians and they don't tell jokes!! I like like his jokes thank you very much and I am not in favor of him being censored or being forced to pretend and be PC and insincere to avoid offending the people who are too lazy to really listen to the joke and think about it or are just too dumb to realise it's a damn joke in the first place. As for the divorce oh, yes it does have the look of a Tom Cruise-esque save my money deal. But of course you are right. It is POSSIBLE his is just coincidentally splitting with her after 9 years and 334 days. Noone here was in the marriage so you are specaulating, I am specualting and every single body else here is just speculating on what could've or did and didn't happen. It was rumored Chris was a ho???...or whatever one person here claimed (never heard that myself)..but he's a celebrity in the limelight so people focus on him and write all kinds of shit about him. In another world maybe she cheated and noone ever noticed her misdeeds? ?? (doubt they happened but if they did?) or thought enough to bother writing about those happenings on her part. I know they were married in New York but Chris being a celebrity who works in Cali and probably has lived there for enough significant spaces of time his wife if she wanted could persue a legal effort to get the California law apply to her divorce. So reasonably this would give him ammo to trip out and "do a Tom Cruise" on her just in case. Come on. Just 20 days from an anniversary suddenly picked as a perfect time to file for a divorce is significant. 20 days before the 10th anniversary spells someone wants to keep someone else out of their assets IMO or rathe IMSO(in my speculative opinion). I know they seperated in 1998 for a while so maybe the marriage was always in trouble?? and not the most solid marriage ever?? But why wait until 20 days before the 10th anniversary? He could have filed for divorce last year, the year before or any year before that. I know better late than never by why exactly now? Still it just things that make you go hmm. And as for this alledged report that they have deied they are divorcing I guess our three or four pages worth of idle speculating either way has been for nought if the report is to be believed. But hat what this board is for. Questions, observations, critique, opinion and speculation.

Chris is really funny and often on the mark with his commentary, but, when it comes right down to it, I've never been all that sure that he likes women much. Me neither, especially lesbian women. There was an interview with him in Rolling Stone a few months back and they had him name his favorite records of all time. He chose The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as one of them and he said something like, "before this, I'd never heard a heterosexual woman rap before." I don't know what to make of that. Dumbass. ah, could he mean - ssush.......... let's not say it Queen Latifa? or maybe ssush could he mean Missy Elliot

Anyone else see him on The Late Show? He's usually manic, but he seemed supermanic tonight, and the bit about if Richard Jeni were there, he'd say "Go see I Think I Love My Wife" was weird. He did have nice things to say about Jeni such as how unprentious he was.

I thought he seemed odd, too. Like he was definitely on something.

This movie sounds a lot like the godawful Mind of the Married Man so I'll give it a pass. I don't like Rock anyway.
