I think she was making a fair point. It was an emotionally loaded comparison, but so is the topic of abortion.

Is Whoopi a smoker? I heard her read the Christmas story at WDW Candlelight Processional and that is a rough sounding voice.

Yes, she seems to be a proud smoker always getting into arguments with the other co-hosts about her right to smoke in public places. She has not kicked the habit.

My question is, why did they ever walk on?

Good for them. That comment by O'Reilly was repugnant. We need to stop putting bigots on TV. It makes it seem like bigotry is acceptable. It's not. ABC should be ashamed of themselves for giving that tool a platform to spread hate.

Side note: How odd (and yet funny) that Babs called Whoopi, "Oprah" today. Heh. I need a video clip of that!

ABC should be ashamed of themselves for giving that tool a platform to spread hate. I totally agree with this but, the thing is, they agreed to have him on their show and as such they really should have been prepared to take him on properly and professionally. It's not hard to figure out what he'd be ranting about: gays, Obama, Muslims, Obama, lefties, Obama, greenies, Obama, feminists ... take your pick. And they should have been prepared to squash him. I worry that by walking out they give ammunition to the Right - these liberals don't have the courage or the facts to respond so they have a girlie tantrum. Unless, of course, the whole thing was one big fat publicity stunt ...

I think that Bill's comment was worse than the junk he normally says in mainstream media interviews. He says crap like that on his show, but he normally tones it down for appearances on other shows. Also, Joy and Whoopi don't get to pick who the guests are that is Barbara and that GOP loving producer.
But, I wouldn't be surprised if it was totally staged.
