I am not one of those people who will endlessly bash modern pop stars and trends (mainly because there is a lot of modern music that I love), but if there is one thing that I hate about the state of pop radio and the pop musical landscape is that, the way musical trends are today, mainstream radio does not readily embrace the type of pop song that initially made huge stars of Celine Dion, Whitney, Mariah, Toni Braxton and other golden-voiced super singers. And this has made it impossible for Hudson to truly become a huge star on the pop charts or the album charts. Imagine if Hudson had been unleashed during the early nineties...imagine a song similar to those ballads like I Have Nothing or, One Sweet Day, or Un-Break My Heart channeled through JHud's voice. I am sure that had Hudson released music in the early nineties, she would have had albums selling tens of millions of records and multiple # 1 hits. (And yes, I know Adele became hugely successful and a huge seller with that type of music, but she is an anomaly). Nowadays, pop hits are more about sampling, hooks, and beats (and that is ok), but I wish that songs with actual melodies and soaring bridges made a comeback...

I love her voice. Why is she on the UK Voice though? Tired of the Blake and Adam show? She was on the UK Voice before US. I think she did both her US season simultaneously and was flying back and forth. |
