That would be a much better end to his story than being controlled by his housekeeper. I got all excited and happy for him on the last page. It just doesn't seem right, whatever is going on there. Is Richard Simmons our generation's Howard Hughes?

I dunno, I'm glad it's not true. It would turn into another media circus in the style Caitlyn Jenner, whom I think hasn't done anything to make the trans community more relatable because she's so cartoonish in that over-the-top, narcissistic Kardashian way. I mean, this is what a lot of people think of when they hear transgender. I love Richard but he's always been a bit on the (loveably) crazy side, and I don't think he could stand up to the onslaught the way Caitlyn has. He has always seemed fragile. I wish him the best.

It pains me to say, but honestly, major depression sounds like a likely possibility. I hope I'm wrong and he's OK.

Richard has mentioned depression in the past--it was the frame for a massive weight gain in his youth.
