It is Cornelius Fudge who calls Voldemort "Lord Thingy" in the Daily Prophet, when he finally announces that VMo has indeed returned, after denying it for a year. The WW refers to him as "You-Know-Who," "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named," "The Dark Lord," and other variations on the theme. I think Fudge was almost close to saying "Lord Voldemort," but then chickened out.

OotP, U.S. edition, p. 845:

In a brief statement Friday night, Minster of Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He-Who-Must-Not-Be Named has returned to this country and is active once more.

'It is with great regret that I must confirm that the wizard styling himself Lord -- well, you know who I mean -- is alive and among us again,' said Fudge. . . . 'We believe that the dementors are currently taking direction from Lord -- Thingy.'

I have a quick and probably dumb question: Will the new book have the same text in the US and UK editions? I know the earlier books had some of the UK slang changed so US kids would understand better, but OotP seemed pretty thick with it.

I wondered about that too - I hope that they don't. Let's give the kids a little credit. I bet most kids can figure out in context that a "jumper" is a sweater and that Mrs. Weasley didn't send Harry a dress for Christmas.

Although, I seem to remember there is a quote from the British edition involved the word "pecker" but not in that way. It was on the list of "Harry Potter Quotes That Sound Really Naughty When Taken Out of Contex".

Which, if someone could track down that list I would be grateful. I remember the last time I read it I nearly peed myself.

Am I the only on who thinks Rowling has given out enough hints to make it obvious that Harry will end up falling for Ginny Weasley? That's my theory.

I am just waiting for the ultimate cop out of Voldermort being a relation to harry, not the whole "Luke I am your father bit." But it will turn out that he is an uncle or somthing off beat.

Ok its been a bit since the last post and i am just wondering if anyone else is getting excited about the impending release? I am going to go pick it up at midnight and most likely hide in a corner until it is done.

I'm really excited, and you calling him "emo Harry" doesn't help! Harry as an emo kid would be awesome. I don't think I'm going at midnight, but I might try to get it this weekend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's not too difficult since I remember the last one being available in my local grocery store.

I pre-ordered it on Amazon. I decided to re-read GoF and OoTP before it comes out. I thought about going to the store, but I live in an area where I would likely be to only person there with out kids. I am pretty nerdy, but I have my limits.
