Do you guys think the quality of the products is different when you do mail order vs the stores? I feel like what I get in the stores is better than what is shipped to me. (In the US, at least.) And their shipping takes forever. Yes! I've only been to a store once, but everything was packaged prettier and it was definitely fresher. Heads up, everyone. I bought a holiday limited face scrub/wash that is kind of like Angels, but so, so much better. I'm in love. I would stock up, but I highly doubt it would keep. It's something "Noel" (I'm not home) and in a pot if anyone wants to take a gander at it.

I don't use much of their stuff anymore frankly; most of the people I used to work with won't step foot inside a store ever again. What? Why? Do tell. *leans in* (Sry for double cross post, etc. Being on my phone makes it a PITA to edit.)

Ooh, give us more dirt, Brookie! Why won't your former coworkers set foot inside a LUSH store? Quality of products, treatment of employees, something else?

Oh no! I'll be so sad to learn some horrible deep dark secret about LUSH! I hope theu don't treat their employees badly or use puppy blood in their products or something. I think I'll stick my fingers in my ears and go la la la while you spill the beans.
I FINALLY got to go to the new store in Richmond, Va. It's bigger than the one I used to go to in NC and the employees were less... hovery. At the NC store, they would NOT leave us alone and we couldn't just get what we wanted easily- they always wanted to grab it for us and take it up to the register or hand us things off the shelf rather than let us pick and choose. And the VA store, we were left to our own devices so I got to look over the Jungle conditioner and pick the freshest, most intact ones available. They didn't have any of the Wiccy magic muscle on the shelf so they brought me some from the back. Luckily the ones they brough looked fresh and didn't have any beans falling out or anything- so I didn't mind letting them pick for me in that case.
I got my free face mask (Chose Cupcake this time- even though Brazen Honey is my fave) but the girl at the register was werided out by some of the pots. I usually order from the UK so the stickers were a different color. She was checking on them and saying something about they needed to be #5 plastic... But in the end she accepted them all when I pointed out the 'Bring 5 Black Pots Back' label on each of them. One had been a tube of solid perfume and not a pot... But it had the 'Bring Back' label on it- and I'd turned another tube in before. But she was nice about it even as she questioned some of them. And now my face is all cupcakey smoothe!! YAY!
Oh, and P.S. Yeah, the sample giving in the mail orders has gone just plain pitiful in the past couple years. When I do order from Canada (which is rare) there's nothing extra in the box. The past two times I've ordered from the UK I've gotten a sample of soap about the size of a sugar cube. They used to go nuts with the sample giving, Not sure why the change. But it is quite sad making :-(!

They don't use puppy blood. They treated my former manager (and still my friend) terribly, as they do/did all their managers. It's all about the numbers, and only about the numbers, and they bullied their managers into performing OR ELSE (and I can only speak to the time I spent there, I have no idea what it's like now). We had 2 LUSH stores in the same mall, and middle management couldn't get it through their heads that we were cancelling each other out on sales (my shop was in the Macy's cosmetic department; fortunately, they've closed most of their Macy's locations). Michelle was there for a year and quit because they threatened to fire her if she didn't get her numbers up a LOT and quickly. She declined and left. They still haven't learned to leave people alone when they shop. I just tell them I'm a former employee and familiar with the products, and they pretty much back off. They pay their people minimum wage and don't offer them raises; they claim to promote from within and they don't. And the products are WAY overpriced.

*Waves* Former Lush management here- I had a slightly different experience. I had fabulous numbers the entire time I was with the company, and it was still meh for me. I think it may be a little better working for the UK; the time that I spent there, I got the feeling that things were a bit different, and that they valued their people a bit more, so this may be just a NA thing. Anyway, I actually really disagree that the products are overpriced, I think you really get what you pay for. I work for one of the tippy top luxury skincare companies now, and I will still drop major $$$ for Lush products. Never fear, Lush lovers. I don't regret working for them at all. My success there meant that they sent me on fabulous trips, I got to shoot the shit and trade ideas with our CEO and company founders, and I got to make products. I kinda miss it now that I work for such a straight laced company. I just pink-streaked my hair in rebellion which may or may not make the week's end. Edited because it's nice to make sense

There were quite a few (mostly personal) reasons, and it's a loongggg story, but I worked really hard to get where I am now, and it was all for the best. To make a long story short, I was up for a corporate position, there was some shady stuff happening, a LOT of traveling, my mom was (and still is) very sick, and the salary just didn't make it all worth it. I still love my Lush friends dearly and toyed with going back quite a few times. But I love my company now, and it all worked out the way it was supposed to. I finally feel like a grown up (with a grown up salary)!! The travel will hopefully find me again. And I will ALWAYS love those Lush products, and the amazing Lush ethics! Skin's Shangri La face moisturizer saves my face every winter. But... shhhhh.

I'm glad your experience was different from my manager's. She'd sit on the floor behind the cashwrap sometimes and cry for about a half hour while the rest of us waited on people. I felt really bad for her, and our district manager (or whatever they're called) was so so rude to her (and to the rest of us; she got fired eventually). Love their new African body cream, but I can't justify paying $40 for one of those little containers right now.

Oh, Brookie- don't get me wrong! I still shed many a tear as a Lush manager! hahaha! The Upper Management definitely needs some help, and I think it's a blessing I didn't move forward. I HIGHLY recommend African Paradise... and honestly?? I must be on my 20th jar of Ro's Argan Body Conditioner since it came out. ...And it hasn't been out that long.
