I missed most of tonight's episode, was any explanation given for Homer wearing a hat like Adebisi did in Oz?

They never explained the hat, but the first thing that jumped into my head was In Living Color, when Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier would do the movie reviews dressed up as queens with little matching hats. I completely missed the OZ reference.

The other night I was drunk and I was trying to do my makeup, and I thought to myself 'you know, i need one of Homer's make up guns.'
But not set to whore.

It was just a sight gag for Oz. I loved it. The first time it ran, I was on the floor laughing.

Read on Yahoo News that a Simpson's move is now in preproduction. A few years ago, I would have been jumping through the ceiling, but I am just really dissapointed because it most likely will turn into a huge disaster. What storyline can they possibly do that has not been played over and over and over again on this show? People are actually going to see this too.

If they had done a Simpsons movie 5-6 years into it's run, it would have been AWESOME. To do it now, though.............. it's like the show jumped the shark, landed on it's feet, and is in the process of jumping yet another holy mother of a shark. We are all still waiting to see the landing.
A Simpsons movie at this point in time just won't work. Trey and Matt were smart to do a South Park movie when they did, because it worked, somehow. South Park may have a few more seasons in it, but definitely NOT another movie, because it's almost played out.
Matt Groening should quit while he's ahead, and not ruin the icon that so many of us have grown up with.

I hear you, I have a lot of problems with a Simpsons movie because they're going to do the postmodernistic take on it: making fun of themselves and 'the conventions of the movie and by association, Hollywood.' Okay, I'm guessing at this, but considering how much of the Simpsons is self-referential it's hard to see how they could do anything else.
Why am I nervous? As said before, the show is coming out of its death spin ever so slowly into unknown territory that nobody has really seen before on American Television. A movie could very well spell the ultimate end of the show. While it's still a big draw for Fox, that doesn't mean it couldn't be punted off to Fridays to spend a few more seasons and give the network a way to kill it off. Remember how they treated Married With Children? Expect nothing less when the gravy wagon stops with this show.

For the first time in I don't know how many years, the 17th season starts in September; the 11th to be exact.
And I saw on TWOP that Sideshow Bob makes his ninth appearance when the Simpsons go to Italy.

Season 6 gets released on DVD this Tuesday (Aug. 16). The discs come in a yellow plastic box shaped like Homer's head.

Wish i could find the aritcle i read, but it basicly says next season Ricky Gervais(creator of the Office) is not only guest starring but writing an episode.
I agree, I mean what could they do in the movie they Haven't already done?
