We loved the 24 ep, but MrB is a big fan. I can see how if you are not a 24-watcher, alot of the little subtle details would be lost. Indeed! As a fan, I was tickled pink. It was so hilarious that I laughed out loud every 5 seconds, I swear! The shrinking list of Living Field Agents alone made my night. ;D

Jumping off of discussion from "The Simpsons" movie thread...
So how many people here can remember their parents forbidding them to watch this show? I remember wanting to watch it so bad when I was 6, 7, 8, etc. and my mom acted like it was X-rated filth. I also remember one time my aunt forbid my cousin from playing with a boy simply because the boy's mother let him watch "The Simpsons" and she didn't want my cousin going over there and getting to watch it.
But does the show still carry such a badass reputation amongst concerned parents? And is this show still such a popular, forbidden fruit amongst kids? When I was young I remember Bart Simpson Nintendo games, Bart Simpson toys, dolls, T-shirts, all the works, but I don't think I see too much of that these. At least not so much for the kids. I still see Homer Simpson shirts being sold at Target, but the "Cowabunga! Eat my shorts!" days seem to be over.

Yeah, I wasn't allowed to watch it until high school. Even then, I still wasn't supposed to, but I did anyway. That prompted many an "I don't want this in my house" from my mother. When I was 16. But eventually she gave up. When I was a kid, my friend would watch it when I was over at her house, so I (because I was a goody two shoes) would go up to her bedroom to read until it was over. I did the same during Power Rangers and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which I was also not allowed to watch.
But despite that, I've seen almost every episode and can quote them with ease.

My mom didn't want my brother and I watching it either, way back when it first started. She thought Bart was a bad role model. Unfortunately for her, dad liked it and would let us watch it with him in the basement. She gave up on that pretty quickly. Occasionally when I see a really old episode from the first or second seasons, I can remember watching it the first time it aired. And then I feel old.

I wasn't able to watch it until I was in my mid-teens (around the late 90s) because we didn't have cable until then, and I was so excited because I'd heard so much about this cool, edgy American show. I distinctly remember watching for the first time (the one with Miss Botz, the babysitter bandit).

Judging by the number of kids at the screaning of the movie I went to, no, it doesn't have a badass reputation anymore. And for the record, it completely freaked me out to see so many people in the audience who almost certainly weren't even born when the show started. The Simpsons is MY generation, dangnabit! You whippersnappers get off my pop cultural lawn!

Okay, why am I just now learning that "cromulent" isn't a word? I actually used that in a Scrabble game!

I thought you guys were going to discuss the new ep from Sunday. I really liked it. Liked how Bart and Lisa were all "together" for a common cause, liked the credits bit at the end with the TV detective shows, liked how Nelson was just burning ants when you thought he was looking for clues, and liked how Nelson was the one to bust the case wide open.
I really wasn't sure if they were going to kill off Martin for good or not! No big loss or anything, but I guess they need him as a nerdy brainiac foil now and then.
