Family Guy: Stewie and Brian, of course. The Simpsons: my alter ego, Lisa Simpson; Maggie's nemesis, the Ugly Baby with One Eyebrow; Waylon Smithers. Futurama: Neela's pet, Nibbler, mainly because he looks like my cat Junebug. The Warner Bros. canon: Daffy Duck, especially when he gets excited and runs around going "Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo!" or when he gets shot in the bill, which spins around and comes to rest on the back side of his head. Disney: Donald Duck, because my late, beloved dad used to do the most amazing DD impression, and (does anyone but my family remember this?) the dancing bears in the cartoon short who sang, "Pick it up and put it in the sack -- boom-boom," and did the bump as they were picking up litter at a national park (I first saw this cartoon about 30 years ago).

I LOVED that cartoon when I was little. Humphrey the Bear was a great cartoon character. There are more cartoons about him, and they're all really funny, but none of them are as good as the one where the bears pick up garbage. I would pay to see that cartoon again. The last time I saw it was about 1987.

Count me in, Sunnyhorse and SpinsterLiz! I remember that cartoon; it was catchy as all hell!
But my heart belongs to Kimba the White Lion. Yes, I'm dating myself. I remember parking myself in front of the TV after kindergarten (Kindergarten was half-days only when I was a tyke) to watch Kimba and Speed Racer. After-school peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Kimba the White Lion... It really didn't get much better when you were five.

Anyone else old enough to remember this?
Look in the sky...it's a bird, it's a plane...no it's UNDERDOG!
And of course his lovely girlfriend, Sweet Polly Purebred!
Other favorites:
The Roadrunner and Rocky and Bullwinkle, and all the weird and wonderful characters on that show...Fractured Fairytales, and Peabody the Genius Dog and his pet boy Sherman.

I've got a soft spot for Jason and Mark from Battle of the Planets, or, in the original Japanese version, Gatchaman, Eagle Ken and Condor Joe. Lean, muscular, and graceful, and plenty of angst and attitude. Not to mention those rockin' bell bottom pants.

My very favorite cartoon EVER is "What's Opera, Doc?". The where Bugs and Elmer are dressed up like Vikings and Elmer sings: Kill the WABBIT! Kill the WABBIT! He's all "Oh Bwunhilda, you're so wuvwee" and Bugs is all "Yes I know it, I can't help it". ;D Best. Ever. As far as characters go. I have always had a fondness for Snagglepuss. Exit, stage left! Let's see, Scooby and Shaggy, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Boris and Natasha (heck, ALL of the characters from Rocky and Bullwinkle!), old school Mickey Mouse, every single South Park character, Bobby Hill, Daria, and just about every toon on Adult Swim (Yay, Meatwad!). The only cartoons I have never been able to watch are Ren and Stimpy (with the exception of the Happy Happy Joy Joy song), Beavis and Butthead, and Family Guy. I can't even stand to watch any episode of these shows. ETA: I can't believe I forgot Marvin the Martian! Brace yourself for immediate disintegration!

DARIA!It was her fabulous biting, sarcastic sense of humour in that oh-so-perfect monotone that sucked me in. It was the depth the characters were given that kept me there. And Trent? As hot as a cartoon can get.

Kanding! We must be around the same age because Kimba was my very favorite too! The Lion King movie stole the entire film from Kimba from the name of the baby lion to the bird, all the characters. I talked to a man in a comic book store about this at length. He also said that the reason Kimba isn't rereleased is because it's racist, with African "savages" depicted as bumbling and big lipped. I honestly don't remember that part of it.
A few years ago I found a video called Leo the Lion and it was Kimba under a different name. When the theme came on, "Kimba. Kimba. Kimba. Kimba... I sang along to it with no trouble 30 years later! It didn't have any racism, but it was BAD. It was soooo depressing because the cartoons do not hold up and I'd had such great memories of it.
I always loved Speed Racer because his heels clicked when he walked.

The original Japanese name of the cartoon was something like Leo, the Jungle Emperor -- was that a more recent version, or the Tezuko Studios version version from the 1960s? I have fond memories of the 1960s version myself... I don't remember any bumbling negro natives, but the white big-game hunters were depicted pretty nastily.
That, and his pseudo-Australian accent. When Geico spoofed it, I was amazed that they spoofed that accent too.
