Anyone else? I'm a big sap and I love this show. I even had a tear in my eye a couple times. Not to mention there is always at least a couple truly annoying people that are very worthy of some serious ripping on. I'm still making up my mind on who I can't stand although the guy that got the boot last night was quite Jethro-esque.

Last season I worried that this show was going to exploit fat people, but it turned out to be quite fun. This fun the people are bigger, whichi will be an even bigger change than the last cast. And they look fab, BTW.

The idea is good. Helping people learn how to lose weight is important these days.
Unfortunately, I can't stand most of the contestants. I've been on diets and they aren't fun, but God, these people are too whiny and dramatic. The whole "I'm soooo starving!" thing is annoying. They're not in Africa, for God's sakes. If things get really bad, they have the option of quitting and driving down to a McDonald's.

I've watched the show, and some of it just seems cruel to me. Forcing everyone to exercise and diet, while having junk food on display (you can look but not touch) all the time? And then there was the part where they are let into the room of junk food while 'allowed' to eat whatever they want before the diet begins. It made them seem like rabid pigs, and that was mean.

My wife ran into the current winner. He is dating the blonde runner up.

Having tempting food around wasn't cruel, it was just real. Those folks have to eventually leave that ranch and be around temptations all the time. One of the contestants said that being able to walk by a tray of brownies every day and not touch them made her more confident about being able to follow the program after she left.
Hey, none of those people got that size by eating moderate amounts of nutritious food all the time. I liked that the show laid out the facts: you eat too much of the bad stuff and don't move your tush, you will get fat. Eat better and move tush, lose weight. It was wonderful that there were no fad diets, no surgery, no as-seen-on-tv exercise equipment, and no saunas. They did it by eating better and working out. Good for them!
And I still can't believe that guy Pete. Brother looks 20 years younger. Wow.

I do like that this show makes them do it the old-fashioned way (diet and exercise) and it isn't a plastic surgery/makeover show.
I do think the challenges with junk food are tacky. I only watch the show sporatically, but the few times I've seen them trot those out, it seems most of the contestants just walk away and don't do it.
I only wonder how well they can keep it up. They lose tons of weight because they are in an environment where there is nothing to do but diet and exercise and they've got a trainer right there every day. Most people don't live like that, and I wonder how difficult the adjustment is when they go home.

Was there ever a recap of the first season's contestants? Did they regain teh weight or keep it off?

I can't believe how often Brett Michaels Rock of Love comes up when I do a search for loser. Anywhoo, I can't believe I'm still watching this show. I seriously go into another room when they get into their manufactured drama moments. The mouth agape/hands to the head the trainers have every time something happens is annoying. On top of everthing someone really needs to find a way to slip in product placement that doesn't seem so completely fake. Sorry Bob & Jillian, I just don't buy that you're the biggest fans of ziplocs, gum and subway restaurants. I really hate Ron and his smugness. I get that he wants the best for his son but does he have to sit there smiling when people fall below the yellow line and are on the brink of being sent home? He's the only guy I'll be happy to see gone in the history of watching this show. Not only gone, but gone in a humiliating loss while betrayed by all those around him.

I'm still watching this show for some reason too. I don't know why - it's 75% filler. But it's a way to kill time until the better shows are on cable this summer and the filler on Dancing with the Stars just kills me even more, so I end up watching that one online. But TBL is good to watch while you surf the net and do stuff like that. The product placement is hysterical on this show. Even the whole thing this last episode Kristen bringing Laura breakfast in bed in order to butter her up was totally staged for product placement purposes. First, Laura's face was completely made up. Then as soon as Kristen drops off the food, she offers to adjust her SLEEP NUMBER BED. And the breakfast probably had JENNIE-O TURKEY. and chew some EXTRA SUGAR-FREE GUM if you get hungry. Hey Bob, why don't you talk about ZIPLOC SNACK BAGS that hold 100 calories for no reason. But only after everyone sits down and watches MARLEY & ME! I want to punch Ron and his terrifying six-pack of moobs in the neck. But it's Bob's Team's own fault for not getting rid of him a long time ago. I loved how they were all complaining that they never win any challenges against Jillian's team when all they did was vote off the athletic people and keep Ron with his bad knee and his bleeding ulcers and his terrifying moobs. Gee, if you want to win challenges that will give you immunity why don't you keep that guy who can actually keep up with people like Tara and get rid of the guy who looks like Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama when he takes his shirt off? But I love Helen for blowing off Ron's drama. Sione and Fillipe didn't, but I think they are whiny babies anyway.
