I just learned REM's Superman was a cover! Superman and Orange Crush were two of my REM favorites--I wasn't the hugest REM fan, but wow. I also went down an INXS hole over the weekend. I love the scrawny, vaguely twerpy 1983-1985 Michael Hutchence best. Gangly, no muscle tone, acne--it's all kind of endearing. " Don't Change" is another of my most favoritest songs. I thought he had the closest thing to the 'Jim Morrison' raw sexuality appeal that I'd ever seen. He was pretty much sex on two legs. |

That time I almost fell into Michael Hutchence (1991 ish) I was deep in my Jim Morrison Doors phase so in my vague memory of my gobsmacked state I can concur he was very much Jim Morrison like and godamn sexy as hell!.

I have a Jim Morrison allergy, but I can't deny the similarities. Same here. Jim Morrison seemed to buy into his hype. Michael Hutchence seemed to toy with his. I always liked Hutch in interviews - funny, charming, boyish lisp. He was endearing. |
