The remake to one of horror movie's biggest personalities, Jason Voorhees, returns to the big screen Valentine's Day weekend. The WebsiteThe trailer (it can be made bigger.) ah, memories... The original 1980 filmMy brother and I were just itching to see Part 3, back in the summer of 84 or so, because it was in 3D. Bitchin! Even today, i can stop what I'm doing to watch one of these movies, no matter how stupid they get. (For example, I mean, come on, Jason makes it from Battery Park to Times Square and no one notices him.) Horrible films, but strangely watchable. Thoughts? Memories? Nightmares?

Ah, and Feb 13 just happens to be a Friday.
Is this a remake or a sequel? The preview seemed to indicate Camp Crystal Lake was abandoned b/c of the murders.
At any rate, it looks really unneccessary.
The original 1980 film is definitely worth watching, if only for the final scene. I think I literally jumped about 20 ft off the couch.

I think it's a reboot. I've never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies, except for Freddy vs. Jason but I think I'll see this one. Are the others worth watching?

It's a "re-imagining", as it were. And it is unnecessary. The original is classic.
Atreides, the first four films were good, after that it just got silly.

Just gotta say -- I f'in LOVE the title of this thread because -- back in my junior high days -- my slasher-movie-loving best friend and I used to laugh about the fact the Jason's presence was always signalled by the "che, che, che -- ha, ha, ha." Well played, forever1267!!
Oh, and a remake or "reimagining" is sacrilege.

My stupid old-ass computer won't let me see the pics of the new flick, except maybe that's a good thing, since the idea of a remake is pretty terrible. It can never be the same, because today people want to see Jason, not his mother, so they can't really do an accurate remake of the original.
I LOVE the Friday the 13th franchise. I've always thought it was the scariest horror franchise ever. Jason freaks me out in a way Freddy "I'm gonna make another stupid pun! Ha ha!" Krueger and Michael "I am unkillable even though I'm a regular old human being, which makes no sense whatsoever" Meyers ever could.
Here's an unpopular opinion: I like all the Friday the 13th films. I even like "Jason takes Manhattan", and I know everybody else hates that one. I realize most of it takes place on a boat instead of in New York and people feel this is a rip-off, but I don't care. The scene at the end in the sewer is great; Jason stumbling around after Rennie throws toxic waste on his face, the water rushing in with the "No mommy, don't let me drown" voice echoing...awesome. And I liked "Jason X" too, mechanical Jason and all.
I think "Jason goes to Hell" is underrated. It never got any credit for trying something different. The plot-Jason jumps in and out of normal peoples' bodies-was unlike anything else in the series and I think it worked very well. One of the scariest movie scenes of all time has to be Diana being attacked by a cop, and while she pushes him off she glances in her mirror and sees it's actually Jason attacking her.
Releasing the remake on Valentine's Day weekend seems pretty dumb-isn't that the same time the remake of "My Bloody Valentine" comes out? It's probably not the best idea to put two horror movie remakes out at the same time.

My Bloody Valentine comes out on Jan. 16th (this Friday). I think having a Friday the 13th movie actually come out on Friday the 13th is par for the course, like when The Omen remake came out on 6/6/6.

This thread is so aptly named. I remember when my mom and older bro were watching this and mom made me leave the room. My bed was on the same wall as the TV in the other room and I kept hearing that "che che che ha ha ha" over and over and got so scared imagining what in the world it was all about.

Michael "I am unkillable even though I'm a regular old human being, which makes no sense whatsoever" Meyers ever could. Isn't that the same for Jason? Perhaps I need to brush up on my classic horror movie info. (I haven't seen any of these in forever.) I can't wait for this to come out. Woooooo!
