If its time to retire, then its time to retire. The man is 67 and has been managing for 33 years, which is longer that I've been alive. The amazing thing is that he's only managed for three times, which is a big deal in this day and age where managers get fired for no reason.
Now of course-who's next? I've heard Oquendo, Terry Francona, Jim Riggleman (nappingdad is not enthused about that one), Terry Pendleton, and nappingdad thinks Mark McGuire is a possibilty, which I doubt, but you never know.

Some members of the local media seem to poo poo McGwire, based on the fact that he doesn't have any team managerial experience. They say it would be better for him to cut his teeth in the minors or some such before he tries to manage in the majors. Which, that makes sense.

Pitchers and catchers reported a few days back, and I'm excited for spring training. Even if my team (the A's) will surely be terrible, traded its best-looking player, and already lost its projected starting 3rd baseman to a blown out ACL after some routine fielding drills.

Still, I love baseball. Two more weeks until I head out to Phoenix!

Did the Tigers find a second baseman? Or was it third base that needed an upgrade? I don't follow them closely, but I recall reading some grumbling after the Tigers traded Sizemore (he of the blown out ACL) to the A's for David Purcey.

In my life, all that matters are the St Louis Cardinals. So I am ready for opening day, have both away and home openers off of work. Of course, my stupid sister actually has home opener tickets. I keep threatening to hit her and her friend she's going with over the head so my mom and I can take their places.

I've been a Red Sox fan for all my life but because of the last few years I'm going to have to take a break. They just annoy me to no end and I don't think they learned anything from last years debacle. I still heard a few weeks ago either Beckett or Lester mouthing a non apology apology about the clubhouse and then followed up with if the start winning it won't matter. It matters to me. I'm not going to support a bunch of brats. what's a fun team this year?

Well, Seattle sucks this week.

Yesterday JP Patches died, and today our beloved Ichiro Suzuki was traded to the New York Yankees. Tonight he'll put on a Yankees uniform.....for three games here in Seattle.

Screw this. I'll go watch Downton Abbey.

Thought I'd bump this thread as its been a while.

I got to go see a game at Fenway this summer and its a beautiful stadium. Of course any stadium would be beautiful compared to the concrete monstrosity that is the skydome. I'm hoping to catch a game at Yankee stadium later in the year. Anyone have a favourite stadium?

I'm curious how this whole biogenesis scandal is going to play out. Hopefully MLB has the guts to suspend Rodriguez and Braun for a long time.
