Everyone else is doing it, so let's hop on! I didn't put "Top 10" films, because only 10 choices limits what was a pretty good decade for film. These were my favorites, some aren't necessarily the "Best", but I liked them anyway. In no particular order:
Memento O Brother Where Art Thou Amelie Bend It Like Beckham Lord of the Rings Spirited Away Munich Finding Nemo Kung Fu Hustle/ Shaolin Soccer Shaun of the Dead The Dark Knight L'Enfant The Departed Brokeback Mountain Hero Thank You For Smoking Les Triplettes De Belleville Unbreakable Galaxy Quest Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Fellow Greecies, what were your favorites?

The only ones I didn't see (yet) are Kung Fu Hustle, Hero, The Departed (it's on my Netflix queue, I swear), L'Enfant, and Thank You For Smoking. But I think my favorite has to be Lord of the Rings, especially the first movie. Unbreakable is my favorite Shymalan movie and I think it's one of Bruce's best acting jobs.

Fellow Greecies, what were your favorites? It's so hard to believe that some of those came out in this decade! Galaxy Quest, CT,HD seem like mid 90s now. I remember clapping in the audience watching CT, HD's fight scenes. Gosh, now I feel old. Anyhoo...I've seen about 75% of that list, and can't remember right now my own faves to add, but I will definitely agree on: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Dark Knight Brokeback Mountain Finding Nemo Kung Fu HustleThose five movies (IMO) changed the game. These are the movies that you watch whenever they come on, and you love to introduce people to them. On a smaller scale, Galaxy Quest as well, but most people who aren't sci-fi geeks won't get it. And I'd swap Hot Fuzz for Shaun of the Dead. Oops, I just remember one: 28 Days Later. The premise may have been trite, but the execution, Jebus...

I actually think The Departed is Scorcese's weakest film that he's made this decade. Or least interesting.
Fricking loved Hero. Loved House of Flying Daggers even more
I kept forgetting how awesome Munich was - I should probably buy it on DVD soon.
Moulin Rouge definitely earns a place in the Top 10, for me. It was definitely a game-changer in terms of reviving the movie musical and doing something completely new with it.

Ah, that's another movie that was so long ago, I keep forgetting it was released in this decade. Yes, absolutely loved it. babycakes, 28 Days Later was one of my faves, too. Seriously, if I put my mind to it my list could be 100 movies long, easily. ETA: Pirates of the Caribbean. LOVE that movie.

Then Chicago came out the next year and won the Oscar for Best Picture that Moulin Rouge deserved. If I had any control, the Best Picture Awards from the start of the decade would have gone Moulin Rouge/LOTR: The Two Towers/Lost in Translation rather than A Beautiful Mind/Chicago/LOTR: ROTK. One of the New Yorker's Film Critics has his list here and...there's arty and then there's being really really obscure. I haven't heard of half these films and I'm a total film geek! I think any Top Ten of the Decade would have to include at least one film from the whole indie crew of Wes Anderson/Kaufman/Jonze/Sofia Coppolla/etc - I think Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the masterpiece that's still going to be a classic thirty years from now.

I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of good ones though.

Hojo to everyone's picks, plus The Lives of Others as best foreign language film on my list.

The Lord of the Rings (I adore ROTK the best as well--though the Battle at Helm's Deep was awesome) Amelie A Very Long Engagement Oh Brother Where Art Thou? (Love it, one of my all time favorites) The Bourne Movies (I was comparing The Bourne Identity to The Matrix today, how both were good stand alone films. But unlike The Matrix Sequals, The Bourne Ultimatium and Supremecy were great films.) Away We Go Sean of the Dead The Others House of Flying Daggers (gorgeous movie) Sweeny Todd (Disclaimer, I love Johnny Depp, I love Tim Burton--so I get very, very happy whenever they work together. I know other's are like "move on", while I go "More!")

Oh yeah, The Others was a fantastic movie and so creepily atmospheric. I believe it was also the last movie with a pre-Botox Nicole Kidman.
