Yeah, Grandma is supposed to be short and very scrawny.
Sunjata is OK as Ranger (he's hot enough, I think), but yeah, I always pictured Ranger as being big and crazy ripped (although someone on the IMDb boards said he wasn't supposed to be that tall, but it's IMDb, so whatever).
I was open to an Irish actor as Morelli, but I don't see it in the pictures. Mark Ruffalo would have been perfect, IMO.
I always thought Connie had dark hair in the books, but who knows?
Sherri S. is nothing like the way I picture Lula, though.

I'm kinda glad that this movie is only being made now that I no longer care about the series. I stopped reading at book 12, I think, cos it had got so repetitive.
I think if the movie had come out earlier I would have been annoyed by the casting, because it seems quite off base, but now I just don't care.
Though I do still think it would have made a better tv series.

Yeah, Morelli looks so obviously Irish. It's really not what I pictured at all. Heigl looks better as Stephanie than I expected though I have to say.
I wonder how Evanovich feels about this? Based on the January date, it seems likely this movie is a mess. It would suck after that many years in development, to see your book adaptation go to crap and probably rule out all hope of any sequels.

I'm not surprised, this movie has been horribly miscast. Grandma Mazar is described as "74, but she didn't look a day over 90" and "a soup chicken." SO not Debbie Reynolds. I like Daniel Sunjata, I really do, but he's not Ranger. Ranger is repeatedly described as "a body like Schwarzenegger, with a lot of bulk to his muscles, and classic Latino good looks." Whenever I read the books, I always picture Luenell Campbell as Lula. I'll spare you all how much I cannot stand Katherine Heigl. And the guy playing Morelli, oy! He's alright, but not drop dead gorgeous. Plus, he looks more Irish than Italian. Put me on the "this movie should have been made ten years ago with Sandra Bullock and The Rock" train.

When I think of Grandma, I think of the lady who played the grandma on Happy Gilmore. And I always kind of liked Queen Latifa for Lula, but I have a major fondness for the Queen.

Queen Latifah would definitely rise above the source material a Hollywood screenwriter would give her as Lulu, good call!

Where is the smoky eye and the spray tan? And would it have killed them to throw in an animal print? Ya'll are right, the casting for this thing is a total miss. For my latest dream Ranger, I would have gone with Jesse from Burn Notice someone who looks hot and like they have some mystery going on. Debbie Reynolds is not nearly sarcastic enough for Grandma. When did the character's name change from Morelli to "O'Morelli" and again, he looks nice enough, but where is the heat that would make Stephanie give it up on the floor behind the counter in a bakery? I am at least intrigued by Lula, although I always pictured her as, shall I say, having more miles on her- Shari looks too fresh faced and sunny for my liking. Actually, I think that's my problem oveall- the casting seems to be all about pretty, and the really good supporting characters aren't written as pretty. They are written as colorful. Which doesn't necessarily mean they can't also be pretty, but I want a more complex version of pretty with some story behind it.

I always pictured a Jimmy Smits as Ranger when reading them early on. When Sherri was announced I could see her pulling it off but a picture of her on set she is too thin and dressed nicer than she does on The View
