I think they did a good job casting Nucky's love interests, attractive-level wise anyways. I think Kelly Madonald is very pretty but she can also look plain too. And Paz de la Huerta (Lucy) is a total butterface. Neither of them seem too far out of Nucky's league.

She drives me nuts, terrible actress and terrible voice. And she is completely insane in real life. It is kind of a long article but hilarious. Here is a highlight.

I'm sort of liking the show but it's just not coming together for me. I can't get into any of the characters other than Nucky and Chalky. Steve Buscemi just obliterates anyone he shares the screen with. Jimmy Doohickey is a big walking slab of dull. I simply don't give a crap about his wife/girlfriend or his kid. Mrs. Schroeder's accent might very well be accurate but it grates on me wee little nerves, faith and begorra, aye, whatever.

We start talking about her appearance, and I ask her how she would describe her lips.

“Pillowy.”

Yeah, I'm with you. I think the only reason I'm watching is because I'm paying $15/month for this channel so I figure I have to watch something on it. The production design is first-rate but the storylines are just boring and we gotta be halfway through the season now, right?

The production and the wardrobe are pretty much the only interesting thing. You would think a show featuring mobsters would be more entertaining but it's just not.

I like it but there are a LOT of gangsters. I can only tell the obvious ones (Capone, Lucky, Rothstein) apart. All the politicking between local mobsters is confusing. I loved Schroeder's parting shot at Paz's character though, and Van Alden just gets creepier and creepier.
