Bad as she is, she still sounds a million times saner than Tom Cruise. When she talks, she sounds like a regular person who happens to have a lot of dumb opinions, rather than a psychopath trying to quiet all the evil voices in her head while she repeatedly spits out a few barely-coherent phrases. See, that makes her scarier to me than Cruise, because people will just dismiss him as a nutbar, but since Preston SOUNDS reasonable, (basically, she's not a total spaz), they might be more inclined to take her seriously. And yes, Jett is sick. According to IMDB: I'm trying to find out if CHEC is a clam front.

I know some hotel workers who got a chance to observe Jett and said that he was very unruly in a manner inappropriate to his age, requiring constant close supervision. The rumor is that Jett is autistic, possibly non-verbal, but of course he cannot recieve any appropriate behavioral therapy as Scientology maintains that autism does not exist...

I remember hearing a story about Jett around the time Travolta appeared on the cover of "Good Housekeeping" with him. Apparently the kid was constantly crawling around on tables and throwing food and just acting out of control and totally beyond normal brattiness. So I can buy that he's got some kind of disorder like autism. Surprise, surprise: it was also reported that John didn't do much about the kid's behavior. He probably just gave Jett a vitamin before they came and figured that was good enough.
If it's true that he is autistic and Kelly and John won't do anything real to help him, methinks child services ought to step in.

I remember reading somewhere that their son Jett accidentally injested some sort of poison, a cleaning product maybe, when he was a baby, and that's what messed him up.

They sure can-- I've heard stories about people who go in for the Scientology detox procedure-- they give you a vitamin cocktail and throw you in a sweat lodge for a bit. Some people get very sick and dehydrated, plus the high doses of... I think B12? in the cocktail can damage the liver or actually cause liver failure.

I've wondered about that also, but then I think of my uncle who ingested the same kind of substance as Jett when he was a child, yet my uncle is normal. I'd like to think that $cientology is to blame. Who knows, maybe the poor kid would have had problems no matter how he was raised or what he ate as a kid, but I really don't think having clams as parents is doing him any favors.

It's also helpful for parents to be open from all types of treatments (natural, Eastern/Western medical, etc.) when you have a kid that suffers from unusual ailments. If you're sticking to one avenue of treatment, and it's not working well (as it has been rumored in the past with Jett) just because your religion tells you to do it their way, it's really unfair (and somewhat selfish? Stubborn?... I'm not sure what word I am looking for) for the child.
