Apologies to the mods if there is already a thread. I did search for it in earnest.
I'm already more than halfway through season 2. I guess I was OK with the wham moment in the first episode, though I'm getting kind of impatient of the plot device of "I just can't have a straight talk with this person because they'll think I'm trying to poison Frank" thing that keeps happening, and everyone being too dense to connect the dots. And for all the attention they pay to news reactions, it's surprising that there was zero lip service paid to any kind of outrage that might have resulted from Frank stepping into the VP position without having been voted for (I imagine there would have been a little at least).
Outside of that, I know that the writers were thinking they were clever with the shot over the credits of the first episode, but I came to the same conclusion during the first season. >>(oh, Frank's initials...my 12-year-old self is snickering)<< . I'm liking Jackie Sharp. I love staring at Remy Denton. Claire is damn frightening, and Frank is deliciously evil. >>("I bet you're going to ask when I stopped strangling people's pets.")<<
But if they kill off Freddy, I will never forgive the writers. Never.

I just started watching the show. I am on episode 8. The one issue I have is that I feel it takes itself too seriously. And Kevin Spacey grosses me out so much. Ick! But I don't have a hard time believing that D.C. runs the way the show depicts it.

Not quite sure how to deal with spoilers here since the whole thing is up on streaming, but, um, that episode with Meechum and the Underwoods...!! They were hinting at things in several episodes but I didn't quite expect that to happen.
I felt so bad for Rachel Posner. All she did was get picked up by Russo one evening and it pretty much signaled the end of her personal freedom forevermore. She tried to get out of the hooking, but still can't make a new life for herself because each time she tries Doug shows up to f*ck with her life again! I liked that they kind of implied that Rachel was like an addiction for Doug, because that's how I was seeing it.
As much fun as it is to see Frank and Claire being bad and getting away with it, their downfalls will also be rather fun to watch.

I just finished season two. I don't know how to talk about it in this thread because of spoilers.
Man, Frank is evil, but Claire is fucking terrifying.
I thought season two was thrilling, but I didn't understand why Claire would be so open about the rape and abortion during the interview. Putting her business on Front street seemed out of character. The Underwoods always claimed to treasure their privacy, and based in their extra curricular activities, they certainly behaved like a political couple that didn't crave the spotlight.
ETA-- Meechum and the Underwoods. I could see something coming, but not all of that!
ETAA-- Mmmmm Remy Denton. He can get it!

I binge watched Season 1 this weekend. I told myself I wouldn't watch the first episode of season 2, but they hooked me! As ruthless as Frank is, Clair is by far worse, chills ran down my spine when she said this line "i'm willing to let your child wither and die inside you."
Meechum is hot, I'm assuming something happens to him or with him in the season based on what people have been posting here and on FB. I loved his adorable gift to to Frank for his birthday.

Meechum is hot, but in my estimation not very bright. Now he's sleeping with both the bosses after they put him on an accelerated track - the same guy who made a massive boo-boo in his detail last season. He doesn't think there's anything odd about that?
So, yeah, my theory is he's the next Freddy. Which - I loved Freddy, and I hated that everything came down on him like it was somehow necessary.

My thought on the Meechum-threesum (heh) was that the Underwoods figure nobody would believe him if he did try to spill the beans on that little dalliance.
Surely everyone entering the thread has at least watched the first episode of S2 by now. The big shocker in there shouldn't have been too much of a shocker if you remember the old BBC version of the show. I was pretty much waiting for that to happen. I was just slightly wondering if they would cop out and kill Janine instead, but they didn't. I hope Janine comes back at some point and blows the lid off of the whole thing. She, Alya Sayyad, and possibly the hacker are the only ones left with the brains and ammo to do it.
On a completely shallow note, I concur with all of the comments on Remy's hotness. He and Jackie were pretty hot together. A shame that fling cooled so quickly.

I'm still on Season 1, but got spoiled for episode 1 of season 2 (and can't wait to see how they pull it off). I batch watch episodes (like 1 or 2 at a time) so I have time to absorb what's happening.
But there's a lot of talk online over whether or not Claire is a feminist character, and I'm not sure. I think it's more she's an interesting and complicated character, and that's not common for women in there 40's to get to play. So I think that there's a character like Claire is feminist, but not necessarily the character.
