Would the series appeal to the riding community or people who are interested in horses?

Considering polo is known for being quite abusive to horses- I hope not.

I guess some diehard Sussex fans will watch out of loyalty. And some polo fans.

I think this definitely looks like what Netflix has done with Drive to Survive, Break Point,Full Swing and Starting Five. With Break Point, another issue that led to the cancellation was that a lot of tennis players were reluctant to participate after so many of the players who did the first season either suffered significant injuries or went into slumps that made them fall significantly in the rankings. Drive to Survive was a success and led to the other shows in large part because it created new fans. People who had never paid attention to Formula 1 started watching and attending races after being introduced to the sport through the show. That helped both getting drivers to participate and interest in the show / sport. I have not seen any of the knock offs do as an effective job of explaining how the sport works to new fans without boring long time fans like the team behind Drive/Break/Full have done. I venture to guess Harry isn't going to do a good job of explaining polo. Even if he does ... where are viewers who get interested in polo supposed to go to experience the sport more?

That's the other issue. First- the abuse to the horse is gross.
Secondly- polo is an elite sport. F1 (any car racing really) has a lot of working class "regular folk" fans. Polo does not- and I don't think it's because people just don't know about polo. It's a sport that is really only accessible to the ultra wealthy, patting themselves on the back.

Yes, I don't think this documentary is going to open up polo as a sport to the average person. It's just too expensive. Also, there aren't a lot of places that have clubs in the US. They're largely clustered in urban areas, and very pricy urban areas at that.

I think the closest most Americans are going to get to polo is wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt, if they are of the preppy persuasion and have $110 to spend.
