I have to admit that I really want to see this movie because I hate Blair with a passion (a Labour politician who entered into an imperialist, illegal war! Tony, I hope your Catholicism gives you comfort in hell!) and I think Polanski's interpretation of the political situation could be really interesting, especially because of what happened in Poland in the 1970s and 1980s, but I know I should not be giving my money to a child rapist. When are Blair's memoirs, for which he was paid millions of pounds, due? I do think it is great that Harris explicitly said he wants the film out before Blair's memoir. I hope the film makes for some uncomfortable questions for Blood Money Blair.

I saw him on the Regis today and when Regis asked him how Polanski was I was praying he did not say something in support of him...cause I would have to stop loving him. He had his wedding ring on. Oh shoot over on Polanski site said he was on GMA said it's none of my business. Sigh. GMA = Good Morning America? So basically he's not commenting? Can't say I blame the guy. What can he say -- he's got three daughters*, so I doubt he's supporting the shitbag. But at the same time, the guy's his boss, this is a movie he's in, and he can't come out and say, "My boss is a sleaze!" So it's better just to say, "he's a great director" like he has, and that's it. *He's very protective of his kids. I have seen maybe ONE picture of Clara, and once a picture of him with Esther and Jamiyan in Israel, right after the latter was adopted. The only one you can really see pictures of would be Jamiyan, and those were before she was adopted. He and Charley Boorman met her in Mongolia on their first motorcycle trip. (And later after that, he and Eve started the process to adopt her)

And quite frankly Ewan is right -- it has nothing to do with him and it's not his problem or his business.

Personally, I find it disappointing that he would even work with the man.

I guess the question in Roman Polanski's case would be, "Is a child molester still a child molester if no one cares?"
It seems to me that this is the case with Roman. Even the victim wants it all just to go away and the man is being praised left and right as the best director ever! He just won the best director of the year award from the Berlin film fest or some such event. So, if it's no one's business and no one cares, then I guess he just gets a free pass because he is brilliant at what he does. How lucky for him and how sad for us as a society if this is what can happen depending on who you are or what you do or how well you do it.
Back on topic though. Ewan is just an actor in a movie that Polanski directed. If he felt strongly at all about this whole thing he would have never agreed to be in Mr. Pedophile's movie to begin with.

He has daughers who are about the same age as the victim was when Polanksi attacked her. I wonder if Ewan would be so indifferent if a "legend" raped one of them.

I'd say that someone raped one of Ewan's daughters that would be his business and I'm sure he'd pissed -- since he has absolutely no connection to what happened to woman Polanski raped -- I can understand why he is steering clear. And I for one don't blame him.

I definitely agree with your post, idaho. I find it sad that so many people just don't care, and are willing to work with (or praise) Polanski.

Simple: money talks. That and it's a career boost. The guy's a very talented director and a legend. Yes, I know, I know.
