Will Ferrell

I didn't see a thread or find one through the search, but correct me if I'm wrong...

I was just wondering what everyone thinks was Will Ferrell's big breakthrough. It seemed like one minute he was the sidekick and the next he's making "scene-stealing" cameos (Wedding Crashers). I thought he pretty much stole the show in Old School, but I guess logic would say Anchorman.

Hmmm...I guess I'm biased (considering my screenname and all), but I think it was Zoolander . He was easily funnier than Ben Stiller, who I thought was really entertaining as Derek.

I thought he was the best thing about Old School by far. I saw that movie at a sneak preview with my best friend from high school, and we were the only two girls who had come to the movie together; the only other girls in the theater had been dragged by boyfriends. But we loved Will Ferrell from his crazy SNL days, and were not disappointed when he stole the whole movie from Luke Wilson.

Oh, and I loved him in Elf. LOVE that movie! It had such potential to be awful, but Will Ferrell totally sold it. I still quote "Buddy the Elf...what's your favorite color?" and "Watch out for the yellow ones, they don't stop!" And the scene where he pulls the gum off of the underside of the railing and chews it is comedy gold. The look on his face is what makes it so hysterical.

I understand that not everyone "gets" his humor, but I think he's hilarious. I don't know about his "staying power" in Hollywood, as I don't think he has real acting chops to back up the funny the way, say, Jim Carrey or Bill Murray do. But if he keeps turning out movies that are as funny as "Anchorman," I can't complain.

I normally hate comedians who appear to always be "on" (like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey) but for some reason I just like Will.

I think it was Anchorman. That cemented my love for him. After having worked in TV news for 5 years, I would have to say that his character is only a SLIGHT exaggeration of the ego and vapidity of most news anchors. Not all, but most.

Every single movie he does I end up quoting in my everyday life. Even the most off the wall things he says, I somehow fit into conversation like it's perfectly normal. Like- I'm going to punch you in the ovaries.

I think he's hysterical. I love that in real life, he is a quiet laidback guy. Also, normally naming your child Magnus would just make me want to put my head through a window, but with him, it just works.

Love him. And I can't wait to see Stranger Than Fiction, the trailer looks great.

But seriously, Old School 2? God, I hope it falls through.

For me, it was the intense joy on his face and the "wheeeee"ing while going round and round in the revolving door. No one but him could have pulled that off. And, the "it's Santa! Santa's coming!! Santa's coming!!" Hilarious movie.

I never liked him much on SNL because I hated that stupid cheerleading skit, but I love him so much now.

I loved "Elf" and was delighted to see Bob Newhart as his adopted dad. It was a really charming movie.
