Also, would talks between the Norwegian royals and the Finnish government be conducted in English? Norwegian royals were talking to the Finnish government? Finnish is not mutually intelligible with any of the Scandinavian languages. Finns all learn Swedish, which is mutually intelligible with Norwegian, but I think that would be a needlessly roundabout way of communicating. The vast majority of Nordic people speak English, and that is the international language of diplomacy these days, so I think English would be the most logical option. I caught a snippet of the Scandinavian Film and Television Awards not too long ago and that was done in English even though it was only Scandinavian stars and only for a Scandinavian audience. I found that interesting since theoretically they could have all used their native languages, but English really does predominate. I think the Norwegian Royals/Finnish government appointment was mentioned in the list of the things Mette-Marit had missed recently. I agree about English--I figured it would be English as the common language, but it also occurred to me that Swedish would be impolitic and kind of pointless. They do share a border in the north, but my knowledge of Scandinavian politics starts with Prince Hot-kon and ends with the Moominmamma Tarja Halonen, former President of Finland. The award show sounds like it was kind of fascinating to watch, although I guess the logical conclusion is that there would be several semi-mutually intelligible languages (including Icelandic and Danish), including Nynorsk and Old Norsk, with Finnish and possibly Sami dialects as an outlier, if any Sami were nominated. And since it's vaguely relevant: Swedes think the Swedish Chef sounds Norwegian.Topic? I forgot about Princess Ingrid. It will be interesting when there are a million queens and crown princesses. I hope there's a meaningful change.

Oh wow I feel old now ;-) I remember official pics of the Norwegian Royal family when he was a kid, long before his half-siblings arrived and how charmed the King and Queen seemed by him. I wonder what his life is like; I can't think of any other current European crown prince with a stepson, so Marius is pretty unique. He lives within a Royal family, his mother will be Queen one day but he has no title and thus, no obligations, right?

Well technically Prince Charles has two grown stepchildren and step grandchildren. I like how that article describes his father as an executive and previous articles on his father have called him an ex-drug dealer or some such. I don't know - maybe the truth lies in between.

That's beyond a forehead or fivehead... that's a sixhead!

That's beyond a forehead or fivehead... that's a sixhead! And even worse, both the fivehead and sixhead are stacked on top of the forehead in a protruding fashion. I saw the first photo and thought he was hot; I saw the second photo and thought he was tragic.

Hopefully he'll grow into his face. Twitter was awful, but I justified my hideous shameful laughing because the target was technically the magazine's declaration that he was soooo handsome.

Pulling this up from page two.
She's been diagnosed with a "life-limiting" lung disease. Most patients only survive 3 years after diagnosis. It sounds similar to ALS.
Thoughts and prayers to her and her family. Her kids are still so young.

It is maddening to see the backpedaling on some parts of the internet who have accused her of extreme laziness and worse over the last few years. They're even using this as an excuse for her husband not leaving her after an alleged affair a few years ago (unconfirmed BTW).
This is an awful diagnosis for anybody. Even if some see her as lazy, she has always been a pretty involved mother.
