Anyone else planning to see this? I am, despite kind of expecting it to bomb. I'm actually excited to see what the cast did with their roles (and if the plot really is as spectacularly bad as rumored.)

I have a grudge against this movie because the production staff moved into my office building for 6 months while making this movie. We had to share the bathroom with them and they were the biggest bunch of pigs I have ever encountered. It was like using a bus station bathroom. They didn't even fucking FLUSH. And they brought their dogs to work (it's not a dog-friendly building and they ignored the landlord when he told them to stop). Somebody in my office is deathly afraid of dogs and she would go into the bathroom and this woman would have her snarling dog tied up outside the stall. Obnoxious Hollywood people.
I hope the movie flops.

I want to support it because it has gotten so much sexist hysteria over a female remake, but ...it doesn't look good. When I see the trailers, it just makes me remember how awesome the original is. Not optimistic about this one, even though I love Melissa McCarthy.

I'm not thrilled about this sequel(?) remake(?) - I don't think that's super clear - because I absolutely loved the original and I don't think this one needed to be made. I also have Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy fatigue.
And it really annoys me that the narrative seems to be, if you're against this movie, you're not a feminist! I don't have to like a thing just because it's female-centric. See Palin, Sarah. That almost seems like a worse message for feminism.
I can make up my own mind and not blindly like what anyone tells me too, man or woman.

I'm waiting for the actual reviews to come out before deciding if I want to see it. Because while I like the cast, the trailer was...not great. The follow-up trailers were better, but not enough to convince me. That's why I want to wait to see what someone who has actually seen the movie thinks.
I think a lot of the reaction was genuine because the trailer was not funny. However, I also suspect a lot of it is because of the "all female" factor. The two groups get lumped together.

I think the trailers look great. All the leads are rocking it and I can't wait to see it. Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones both have me laughing so I'll be there. Not exactly sure what all the fanbois are expecting but the original Ghostbusters certainly wasn't Shakespeare and doesn't deserve the unadulterated mansteria it's generating.

I feel this pressure to support this movie, which looks like a steaming pile of crap, just because it is female driven. Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, both who are awesome, are not enough to get me interested in this. Like you, I have Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy fatigue. I have never understood the appeal of Wiig. Also, can someone come up with an original idea like, EVER?

The trailers have all sucked. If it actually looked funny, I would be on board to watch it.

I have never seen the original Ghostbusters from start to finish. I obviously could have remedied that but I just didn't care. I am interested in this partially for the casting and also because I won't have to compare it to anything.

You can watch it totally straight or totally silly, and it still is funny. Not necessarily why I love the movie overall, but it makes a difference. And my college degree is very tied to the Ghostbusters.
